Take the Survey!

Thank you for your willingness to take part in the 2021 LGBTQ Institute Southern Survey!

This study of, by, and for LGBTQ people helps to amplify our voices and the issues affecting our lives, in order to create a more safe and welcoming South, where we can thrive.

Overview

LGBTQ people, especially those in the South, have been historically excluded in research. We want to change that. The LGBTQ Institute is partnering with Emory University to conduct our second survey of LGBTQ individuals in the South. This is a study of, by, and for Southern LGBTQ people, with the support of many community and grassroots organizations.

The goal of this research is to amplify the voices of LGBTQ Southerners and highlight the issues affecting our lives. We know that what gets studied is what gets done. Your input can help determine local and state needs for LGBTQ people and help organizations, businesses, and government agencies better support LGBTQ people so we can thrive.

This survey will ask general questions about your life, your experiences, and your opinions as an LGBTQ Southerner. It will take you about 15 minutes to complete. You are eligible to participate if you: Are at least 18 years old; Identify as LGBTQ; and live in the South (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or West Virginia)

Please remember that:

  • Your opinions are always valuable and important.

  • You are never required to participate and may skip any questions that you do not wish to answer.

  • Your involvement and individual responses will always be anonymous (unless you choose otherwise), will always be confidential, and will always be seen only by the research team.

  • Our research is always done with the approval of Emory’s research ethics board.
